Just in case you wanted a Clock Tower hardcore clone with ridiculous monsters, Japan got it covered back in the 90s. Because that’s how they roll.
Metal Gear Rising it's all about the cutting of people »
I’m surprised no one did this before, considering body dismemberment was a killer feature many years ago. Still, I wonder if this will offer any interesting gameplay or will just let you feel the ultimate badass. As long as you can do the crazy shit Goemon Ishikawa does, probably cutting the environment is way more interesting than slicing people in half.
Just wanted to say something nice about 100 Rogues, the best iPhone roguelike I could find on the app store. It’s pretty good as a condensed version of what a game like this should be about, and hard enough to assure good replayability. And they’ve got the balls to make hardcore mode the default game mode and they deserve kudos for that. Also, it works incredibly well on the iPad with just a bit of pixelated art that adds to the 16bit look of the game.
I think it’s the first time I say this: I’d buy a proper Pc game made by those guys.
Robot Unicorn Attack on iPhone coming in June. Fuck, I want this now!
Oh shit, people gonna go crazy. You can also use the Auction (but there’s a monthly fee for that). Good thing I’m off the hook.
So, X-Com is getting the fps treatment, made by new people (I’m guessing some of them never played the game in the first place) is this really bad? It’s not like bohemia telling “ok, instead of making a better ARMA III it’s gonna be a straight on rails shooter because we want to compete with Modern Warfare”. We are talking about entirely new developers making a different game with a different scope and gameplay. This turned out good in the past sometime, and sometime not so good (think S.W.A.T. for both).
I think this game has a better chance of being good than, say, the long-awaited Jagged Alliance 3 thing. Fresh start is better for making games than new people covering old design to please the fans.
I think the point of UFO (and the reason no big developer ever came up with a high profile followup) is that the setting is so connected with the gameplay it’s hard to extrapolate the good design concepts from it. So you can only come up with a complete clone or a cover. And clones and covers are usually worse than the originals. There are a couple of clones made recently (on Steam you can get UFO: Extraterrestrial and UFO: Afterlight) and I remember there was an open-source one in the works sometime ago. So if you really want new UFOs just get one of those games or just get the originals on Steam. Time to move on and shit.
Still not in the mood of doing a proper story. Just tinkering with the editor in solo mode, trying to make characters and settings.
On the SA Forums someone made some lovely Shub-Niggurath sprites! There’s also a wonderfuly retarded lovecraftian story.
